Pasquale Bros. June 2010 Newsletter

What a month this is going to be!!! Already unseasonably super hot weather, hardly any rain. The farmers will not be happy, but city residents, and restaurants with patios are loving it.  Not only the G8 in Muskoka, but soon Toronto will experience the G20.  My truck drivers have had to undergo security checks, and will need photo ID to access certain downtown clients.

Apart from our house-brand JULIUS Extra Virgin Olive Oil and JULIUS Pure Olive Oil (both from Spain), another popular brand is messapico Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Puglia, Italy in a three litre tin.  It is now back in stock.  From the same company, we also carry the caroli pasta line.

Some of you are already familiar with their speciality cuts, which cook up amazing and are a nice change from the regular shapes.  An intriguing cut is the foglie, meaning 'leaf'.

  HERE COMES march!!!!!

Before we know it, winter has almost passed and now we can look forward to longer days (and higher temperatures).  As the landscape changes, so do our menus and cooking styles.  Just in time for this, is the Food and Beverage Show.  It will take place March 7, 8 & 9 at the Direct Energy Centre, conveniently located in the CNE grounds, accessible by car or public transit.

Adventures with Anna Marie!
Anna Marie has just returned from a two week vacation to Italy. This time around she had more time to enjoy the sensational sights, scenes and sounds at her leisure. 'Each day was better than the next' Anna Marie says of her adventure. She also says 'what's good about Italy is the same as what's bad.' The food is very regional, and it's possible to have too much of a good thing sometimes. Here in Canada we're so used to having 20 different cuisines within one block and e're so used to fusion cuisines. Italy is the complete opposite.
